Community AA Voices - personal stories AAT Voices Four part film series Young people affected by aplastic anaemia don’t often see their voices and views represented. Last year we invited young people in our community to work with us and Fully Focussed Productions, to create their own short films. We are so excited to share these videos with you. These films are real voices of people affected by aplastic anaemia, we hope they will be a great support and information resource to everyone diagnosed in the future, or the young people around them. A special thanks to Elin, Henry, Lily and Dan for being so open and honest in these videos. Also, thanks to Fully Focussed Productions who worked with the team on this project. Dealing with The New Normal In this film Henry, Elin and Dan talk about life after treatment. Future plans or lack of, trips to the sperm bank with your Granny, the feeling of missing out on things that so many take for granted, like going for your first legal pint or learning to drive. What it’s like to return to work and making positive life changes, tips for planning for the future and counting small wins. Dark Days In Dark Days, Henry, Elin and Dan chat about the impact aplastic anaemia had on their mental health. From therapy and thinking about dying, to ‘losing your shit’ when someone eats your yoghurt, the group discuss the topic with candour. And yes, please be warned that there is some adult language in this video. It's Good To Talk Lily, Dan, Elin and Henry prove it's good to talk, even if it's about awkward things that you definitely don’t want your family members to know. They talk about reaching out, finding happiness, and looking for unexpected moments of humour and light when things get tough. What Was it Like For Family and Friends Lily, Dan, Henry and Elin talk about what it’s like being a sibling that isn’t a match, feeling like a burden and wanting to protect those you love from your own pain. They chat about the impact on family and friends, the roles people took on around them from solo visitor, chief medical professional, financial advisor, and pizza delivery person. When life gets tough, relationships are tested, but often they get even stronger and bring people closer together. Elin's Behind the Scenes A big thank you to Elin for creating this incredible behind the scenes film. Manage Cookie Preferences
