Get support

Not everyone understands aplastic anaemia and other rare bone marrow failure conditions. We do.

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with aplastic anaemia or another rare bone marrow failure, you've come to the right place! We are here to help.

There are no questions too small, no silly questions, and you can contact us about aplastic anaemia, a related condition like PNH, or another rare condition that affects your bone marrow, like Fanconi anaemia, Dyskeratosis congenita, or Shwachman Diamond Syndrome (we work with specialist partner organisations to support you!)

Opening Hours

MAY BANK HOLIDAY: Our Support Line will be closed between Saturday 2nd May and Monday 4th May, and will reopen at 9am on Tuesdsy 5th May.


Our support line is open from 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday, except for Bank Holidays.

Outside of our opening hours, you can leave a message and we will always call you back upon our return to the office, however, if you need to speak to someone outside of these hours, please do call the Samaritans. They have a 24/7 helpline and can be reached on 116 123.

Accessing benefits

Our team can provide information about the various benefits and financial support that you may be eligible for, and put you in contact with a qualified benefits advisor who can explore what support you may be entitled to, help you to fill in application forms and help with the appeals process, if needed. Getting in touch with other people with a rare bone marrow failure condition

We have lots of ways that we can help you to get in touch other people who are living with, or supporting someone with a rare bone marrow failure.

Facebook Support Group

We have a very active Facebook Support Group, which is a friendly, safe space to ask questions, and get to know other people who understand what its like. You can join our private Facebook Support Group by searching for 'Aplastic Anaemia Trust - Patient Support', or by clicking on the button below.

Online and face-to-face events

We also run regular Coffee, Cake and Chat events throughout the year, usually in Leeds, London, Birmingham and various cities in Scotland. These events are a great way to meet other people face-to-face, and are completely free of charge to attend. 

If you're unable to make it to one of our face-to-face events, we also run a selection of online chat groups via Zoom every month, ranging from a session for people who are newly diagnosed, to those who are preparing for, or have had a stem cell transplant. Psychological support

Our online emotional wellbeing courses are free of charge, and open to anyone living with a rare bone marrow failure condition, or supporting someone who is. Our courses are led by an experienced Clinical Psychologist, giving you access to support that can help you to manage the challenges that come with a diagnosis of a rare bone marrow failure.

What can't we support you with?

Although we can provide information and guidance about managing aplastic anaemia, we are not medically qualified and are therefore unable to comment on individual circumstances. We can, however, explore your options and signpost you to your nearest service or treatment centre.

Information provided by The Aplastic Anaemia Trust is not a substitute for professional care and should not be used for diagnosing or treating a health problem.

We are unable to provide professional legal advice or legal representation, however, we can signpost you to organisations that may be able to help.

As a charity based in the UK, we welcome contact from people outside the UK, however, any information and guidance that we provide is based on the guidelines for treatment and management of aplastic anaemia used in the UK, which may differ from your guidelines used where you live.
