Amanda Conquy, Chair of the Board Amanda joined the AAT's Board of Trustees in April 2020 and became our chair in October the same year. Expand Amanda is an executive coach, working with leaders and managers, mainly in the arts, education and the third sector. Previously she had been editorial director at Heinemann publisher and MD of the literary estate of Roald Dahl. While there she developed and had responsibility for two charities, Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, a grant-making foundation working to improve the lives of seriously ill children, and the Museum and Story Centre which bears the author’s name, of which she became chair. Amanda’s commitment to our work is founded on the experience of her daughter, who was diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia in 2019. She is also a volunteer prison representative for the Shannon Trust, which aims to transform peoples’ lives by encouraging prisoners who can read to teach literacy skills to those who cannot.
Callum Tempest Already the Chair of our Youth Board, Callum joined our Board of Trustees in August 2022 Expand Callum is Programme Manager for the Diocese of Leeds’ award-winning music programme, a charitable initiative that brings sustainable music-making opportunities to around 7,500 children and young people in state schools across Yorkshire. He is also Operations Consultant for the National Schools Singing Programme which is replicating the Diocese of Leeds model across the UK. Callum was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia in 2020 whilst completing his degree in Economics at the University of Bristol. He received a stem cell transplant later that year and joined the AAT’s Youth Board – which he now chairs – whilst recovering. As a former patient, Callum is committed to supporting the AAT’s mission and ensuring fellow patients can access the support and treatment they need.
Jane Cozens Jane was appointed to the Board in April 2018 Expand Jane is a communications expert and digital strategist with over 25 years’ experience. She currently serves as Head of Communications at Southern Housing Group, one of England's largest housing associations. She was previously Head of Digital Strategy at the Group. Jane has worked as a freelance consultant and her clients have included major international law firms, digital design agencies and advertising agencies. She has advised on brand, marketing and communications strategies, SEO and other digital communications strategies and specific product development, including traditional messaging and online content development. Jane is a non-practising solicitor and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Jenny Williamson Jenny joined the board in February 2023 as our Treasurer. Expand Jenny is Senior Writer at Accounting for Sustainability (A4S), producing case studies and other practical guidance on how finance professionals can integrate sustainability into decision making. Previously, Jenny worked in charity finance, having qualified as a chartered accountant in 2011. She specialised in the financial management of restricted projects and has extensive experience developing budgets and commercial narratives for bids from large institutional donors. Jenny lives with chronic illness and believes strongly in the importance of healthcare and community support.
Julia Beart Julia joined the AAT Board in August 2022. Expand Julia is a freelance consultant specialising in organisational development, team building, strategy, impact, learning and communications for the social impact sector. Prior to launching her consultancy practice, Pragmatic Radicals, in 2022, she was CEO of Primary Care International, where she spent seven years growing the organisation from a start-up to a leading global social enterprise in primary healthcare. She’s passionate about access to healthcare for all and is a big believer in the power of peers and community. Julia also volunteers at the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre, and keeps busy as mum to two football-mad kids.
Sarah Gilbert Sarah joined our Board of Trustees in August 2022 Expand Sarah is a Senior Public Affairs Adviser at Macmillan Cancer Support, leading on topics such as workforce and the financial impact of cancer. She has previously worked for charities supporting young people with cancer and rare diseases, leading to her interest to becoming a trustee for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust. Sarah is passionate about working with government and within healthcare settings to ensure the voices of those with lived experience is heard.
Steve Oliver Steve joined the AAT Board in November 2022. Expand Steve is an Investment Manager and Divisional Director in the London office of RBC Brewin Dolphin looking after a range of clients such as individuals, charities and trusts. Steve began his financial services career back in 1988 at Lloyd’s Underwriting Agency RW Sturge, managing private clients’ investments. Having worked at Wise Speke Limited since 1994, he joined RBC Brewin Dolphin on their takeover of that company in 1998. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. In his spare time, Steve spends most of his spare time attending various sporting events and spending time with his two teenage daughters.
Tracy Stephenson Tracy, a patient advocacy focused Trustee, joined the AAT Board in April 2020. Expand Tracy was a police officer in the Metropolitan Police for 30 years, retiring at the rank of Superintendent. She held a wide variety of roles during her career and built strong bonds with the community and partnerships with key stakeholders. Tracy currently is a part-time lay member for the Bar Tribunal Adjudication Service sitting on a panel hearing discipline cases relating to Barristers. She volunteers for Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Anthony Nolan Trust. Tracy is passionate about the AAT's work as her son was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia two years ago and has had a rocky road through treatment. As the new patient advocate she is keen to help transform patients' and their families’ journey through this disease.
