Work capability assessment

If you are claiming ESA or Universal Credit on the grounds that you have an illness or disability that means that you are unable to work you will be called to have a work capability assessment which is the test to assess your capability for work. Read more

Universal credit migration

As part of the ‘full roll out’ of Universal Credit, claimants making new claims to any of the six legacy benefits will have to make a new claim to Universal Credit. This is called ‘Natural Migration’. The Government is also in the process of moving all existing claimants over to Universal Credit, this is called ‘Managed Migration’ and will take place over the next few years. Read more

Carers Allowance

Carers Allowance is a benefit which can be paid to a person if they provide substantial care for a person who is ‘severely disabled’. Severely disabled in this instance means that the individual concerned qualifies for Personal Independence Payment Daily Living, Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance for Care at least the Middle rate.
