Support us Leave a Legacy of Hope Frequently Asked Questions: Writing Your Will & Leaving a Gift to The Aplastic Anaemia Trust 1. Do I have to be wealthy to leave a gift in my Will? No. You don’t need to be wealthy to leave a legacy. Many of our supporters choose to leave a small percentage of their estate - often just 1% - after taking care of their loved ones. Every gift, large or small, helps build a better future for people affected by aplastic anaemia. 2. Is it really free to write my Will? Yes - completely. Through our partnership with Bequeathed and MyIntent, you can write a solicitor-checked, legally binding Will online, at no cost to you. There’s no catch, and no obligation to leave a gift to The Aplastic Anaemia Trust - though we’d be honoured if you chose to. 3. Do I have to leave a gift to The Aplastic Anaemia Trust if I use the free Will service? No. The service is open to everyone and completely obligation-free. We hope you’ll consider leaving a gift to AAT if our work has touched your life, or if you believe in helping others facing rare disease - but the choice is yours. 4. Do I need to have aplastic anaemia to use the free Will service? Not at all. Our free Will Writing service, like all our support, is open to anyone affected by aplastic anaemia. This means people with aplastic anaemia and family and friends. Our free Will service is open to everyone. We welcome and deeply appreciate the support of anyone who shares our vision for a better, fairer future. 5. Is the online Will legally valid? Yes. Once your Will is reviewed by a legal professional and signed in the presence of witnesses, it becomes a fully valid legal document. The team at MyIntent will guide you through every step of the process. 6. Is my information kept confidential? Absolutely. Your personal details and wishes are treated with complete confidence by both Bequeathed and The Aplastic Anaemia Trust. If you choose to notify us about your legacy gift, we’ll only use that information to thank you and plan for the future - always with discretion and care. 7. How long does it take to make a Will online? Most people complete the initial online interview in less than an hour. After that, a solicitor will be in touch to finalise the Will and answer any questions. It’s simple, secure, and can often be completed in just a few days. 8. Can I update my Will later? Yes. Life changes - and so can your Will. You can return to MyIntent at any time to make updates, or speak to a solicitor if your circumstances change. 9. Why should I consider leaving a gift to The Aplastic Anaemia Trust? Because legacy gifts change lives. They fund groundbreaking research, offer vital support to patients and families, and help us build a stronger future. Every legacy - even 1% - helps carry our mission forward. “The progress we’ve made has only been possible because of those who came before us - and those who have chosen to leave something behind.”– Ted Gordon-Smith, AAT Founder and Patron 10. Can I tell you if I’ve left a gift in my Will? Yes, please - we’d love to hear from you. Letting us know you’ve included The AAT in your Will helps us plan ahead and gives us the chance to say thank you properly. Your intentions will always be treated with complete confidence and respect. And soon, we’ll be launching our Legacy Circle - a special way to recognise and thank those who’ve chosen to leave a gift in their Will to AAT. By letting us know about your gift, you’ll be invited to join a growing community of supporters who are helping shape the future, together. 11. I still have questions - who can I talk to?
