Emotional wellbeing - found online When you're working to help people with a very rare condition to feel less isolated, sometimes the most effective way to do that is online. That's why your donations to our Christmas appeal help us moderate vital online spaces, and connect people affected by AA, wherever they are in the UK, with expert psychological support. When we went to meet Barbara, she spoke about some of the ways The Aplastic Anaemia Trust connected her with other people online, and how important that was to her wellbeing during her recovery. Through the AAT closed Facebook group, Barbara got to know people and was able to provide support to others, as well as sharing her own concerns. Supporting others through something you have been through yourself is a way to be valued and useful - at a time when long periods of missing work or relying more than usual on family and friends can result in feelings of powerlessness and a loss of itentity. At the AAT, we understand that providing a safe, moderated online space for people to offer peer support is so valuable. If you're living with aplastic anaemia, or supporting a close friend or family member, you can join our Facebook community here. Barbara told us about the support she'd found from signing up to our Managing Stress course, and how it provided her with new ways of thinking that were helpful at the most difficult times. The feedback from the people who complete these courses is always so positive. If you ever feel like you're struggling to find ways to process what's happening, finding things tough emotionally or you just want to feel more equipped to face tough times, we'd really recommend signing up to these courses: Sign up now for the next Managing Stress and Uncertainty Short Course Have you been living with aplastic anaemia for what feels like a long time?Sign up for "Moving Forward, Living the life that matters to you" - here.
