At the end of May I'm taking on the national Three Peaks Challenge in memory of my dad, Chris, who passed away from Red Cell Aplasia in 2020.

Red Cell Aplasia is a rare condition where the bone marrow stops producing red blood cells, leading to severe anemia. This can cause extreme fatigue, weakness, and shortness of breath, and in serious cases it can become life-threatening very quickly. Even something as minor as a cold can overwhelm the body when it is already so weakened, this is what happened to my dad, who sadly passed away, and why I am raising awareness and support through this fundraiser.

Sadly, my dad passed away in 2020 just as COVID-19 was beginning, therefore, we were unable to celebrate him with normal funeral arrangements. Through this I am hoping to raise money for a very worthy cause and also give him the proper send off he deserved.

I miss my dad everyday but also know he is still very much with me ❤️

I'm climbing the three peaks in support of The Aplastic Anaemia Trust. The only charity in the UK dedicated to research into aplastic anaemia and allied rare bone marrow failures, and supporting everyone affected nationally.

They fund research to improve treatment, provide expert information, and work tirelessly, at grassroots level, to support every patient and their loved ones. Their vision is a world free from aplastic anaemia and allied rare bone marrow failures.

By donating you'll be;

  • Funding vital research into the disease and treatments for the causes of aplastic anaemia and other rare bone marrow failures that ultimately leads to the eradication of the diseases.  Enabling research and improving treatment means that in the future no-one will have to lose someone they love to these conditions.
  • Providing support. The AAT are determined that everyone diagnosed with AA or other rare bone marrow failures in the UK, should have someone to talk to - someone who really understands what they’re facing.                                                                    They provide everyone affected by AA and other rare bone marrow failures with the information, and emotional and practical support they need.
